GeM hopes that simplifying the registration process, will make it easier for SMEs to access government procurement opportunities and help the government achieve its goal of supporting local manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

GeM has several characteristics that make it appealing to government buyers, including transparent and open bidding procedures, standardized product and service specifications, and a large number of verified suppliers. The platform also includes tools for contract management, delivery monitoring, and payment processing.
